Welcome to SOFREE Media

SOFREE Media is Canada’s first multimedia service promoting freethought, social justice, critical thinking, and Humanist culture. Our services include event videography, DVD production. Our team of volunteers use broadcast-quality equipment and editing software for professional results.

Begun as a pilot project sponsored by Humanist Canada in 2005, SOFREE Media, once known as Freethought TV, has expanded to use several forms of media to promote critical thinking and Humanist culture.

Our first large-scale project was Legacy of the Heart: A Tribute to June Callwood. This is a documentary honouring legendary Canadian journalist, writer, speaker, and social activist, June Callwood. A true humanist and philanthropist, Callwood founded over 50 charitable organizations , the most famous being Casey House–the first hospice in the world for people with HIV/AIDS. Legacy of the Heart received a standing ovation when it premiered at the AGM dinner of Humanist Canada. Subsequently it won the Peoples Choice Award and the Social Justice awards at the Kitchener-Waterloo Film Festival.
