Founded in 1992, the Society of Ontario Freethinkers (SOFREE) is a dynamic, charitable, humanist fellowship that advances reason, ethics, dignity and equality. We provide a social network for members all over Ontario, an annual summer camp for children of atheists and agnostics called Camp Quest Ontario, a video production service called Freethought TV that records events and produces material that promotes critical-thinking, social justice, humanism and secularism, support the volunteer-driven magazine Canadian Freethinker, and collaborate with various organizations to host events and fundraise for important causes. SOFREE is a registered Canadian non-profit charitable organization.

Core Principles of Humanism

That we can live full, meaningful lives by relying on the human capacity for rationality, honesty, cooperation, responsibility, fairness, and respect for each other.

That we use democratic principles, logic, and scientific inquiry, to find realistic solutions to problems, rather than religious dogma and texts.

That we foster good ethics, virtues and critical thinking in our children to help them grow to be decent, responsible and active members of society.

That we protect the Earth for future generations by supporting breakthroughs in medicine and technology and by not inflicting needless suffering on any species.

That separation of state and church is upheld in all levels of government to ensure equality and fairness for everyone.
